    Find me on...

Concert Review Telluride June 18, 2011: MY Lord

    It’s 4am and I JUST got to my hotel….where do I start!

    The beginning:

I arrived in Telluride only to remember that I forgot my concert tickets in LA. Great. I called Plant Blue Grass and they said all I needed was my ID (they are the most amazing group of people/professionals). The girl that checked me into my hotel invited me to come hangout with her and her friends after she got off, so I rested and met them in town around 5 (Of course I checked out the venue first and no one was there). We walked around the tiny town until we came up to a river were a bunch of free spirited festival goers were drinking and smoking pot (seriously it was like 60 people sitting by the river doing this) it was awesome. We continued to wonder around town as they introduced me to everyone in the town because it was that small. People of Telluride are fucking amazing; I can’t even count how many times I laughed during the day.

    The middle:

I was 3rd in line around 8:30ish. Around 9 Marcus and Ted got out of a shuttle and ran inside for sound check (well, Marcus bolted Ted was more strolling). To which I thought to myself ‘omg they’re really real’. At around 9:30 I told the guy in front of the door about my situation to which he replied ‘Sorry no ticket no entry’ this is when I gave him the puppy dog eyes and he made a phone call to the box office at the main tent who told him I had to run down and buy another ticket and mail the one in Cali back. And run I did. Finally they let people in at 11:45pm and the opening act didn’t start until midnight. The venue was SMALL , and they didn’t even have it filled up all the way - maybe 250 people at the max!

    The end:

Mumford and Sons came on at…well I’m not sure but it was late. They made a rule that after the 3rd song there was to be no camera activity (Which sucked). But don’t worry I got lots of photos during the first three songs…I couldn’t get all the amazing bickering that was happening b/c of that rule, but I will tell you.

Marcus: Where are you guys from?

    Some guy: Las Vegas!

Winnie: I love Vegas, I just wouldn’t want to be from there.

    Crowd: Ohhhhhhhh

Winnie: No no no, I love gambling, and hookers, and titties.

    Marcus: Cut his mic now!

They also displayed a chant that they do when they’re feeling like douchbags.

Marcus and Winnie: We do want he waaannntt because we’re from Engggland.

Just then the guy from Vegas gets Marcus’ attention again and he throws from the balcony a perfectly rolled blunt (weed), which Marcus looks at the backs away quickly with a smile on his face like ‘I’m not touching that’.

I was dancing/stomping/ and just feeling their music fill me up. As I was singing every word to every song I had people looking at me like-how did she know those words? You guys would have been so proud! They fished their set and I was in love all over again. One thing I noticed is that Marcus has moves, you can’t tell from videos but when he plays around and swings is hips and stuff he’s really…well yummy. ( Sorry it’s almost 5am and words aren’t coming to me). After the set was over we were clapping and screaming for 5min straight and then this happened:

    The Encore:

When they came back out after the set was done, they asked if the people on the floor would part down the middle so they can play ON THE FLOOR. So we made a circle and I was standing shoulder to shoulder to Ted (who was drunk and silly…I love Ted) I had intense eye contact with both Marcus and Winnie who were standing only 5 ft from my face. They played 3 songs including Amazing Grace. I died. I can’t believe I was that close to them and singing and laughing and enjoying life along with them!

    Closing time:

While outside talking to a group of friends and waiting for a taxi maybe an hour after the show had ended me and this other girl spotted Ben walking by himself so we walked up behind him and I called his name: He turned around and I asked for a picture…he was sooooooo nice and lovely. I told him it was my first time seeing them and he apologized for it being more like a cabaret then a concert and I laughed and we had a moment. Them a few min later Ted walks out and we talked for 10min and I got a pic.

This was the best night of my LIFE.

Mission accomplished. It is now 5am goodnight.
